More Than Just a Birding Tour

This tour is suitable for just about anyone, including beginner kayakers. We explore the headwaters of Barnards Creek, a tributary of the Cape Fear River. The star of this tour is the Yellow-crowned Night Heron, which we can almost guarantee you will see during breeding season. You will feel as if you have gone back to the Jurassic era as huge herons and egrets soar across the creek and into the ghost trees. Spanish moss shades the cool waters of the creek, where primitive bowfin swirl around the surface.

Your guide is a wildlife biologist focused on identifying wading birds on this little adventure, along with other wildlife and flora. Birders will want to bring their camera and binoculars on this unique kayak tour coming in at under 2 hours long. We will take our time along the way to sit back, observe, and capture the incredible moments.
