WOA in San Francisco
While Wilmington Outdoor Adventures remains proudly rooted in Wilmington, NC—where we continue to guide unforgettable kayaking tours and outdoor events—we’re thrilled to share an all-new adventure from our founder and lead guide. Now offering a 1.5-hour guided walking tour along the wildest edge of San Francisco’s coastline, she invites you to experience her newest favorite corner of the planet: a place where raw ocean energy, rugged cliffs, and storied history meet in spectacular fashion. This page is dedicated entirely to that San Francisco tour—an unforgettable exploration born from the same spirit of wonder and connection that defines Wilmington Outdoor Adventures.
San Francisco’s Wild Western Edge: Nature & History Walking Tour
Join our founder for a guided journey through one of San Francisco’s most breathtaking and storied landscapes—where the Pacific meets the city’s untamed edge.
Hear stories that reveal how San Francisco’s coastal ecosystem thrives amid shifting sands, wind-carved cliffs, and resilient wildflowers. Walk through cypress groves alive with ravens and pause along the way to take in sweeping views that stretch across the Pacific Ocean to the Farallon Islands.
You’ll explore the hauntingly beautiful Sutro Baths ruins and nearby sea cave, where the power of the ocean echoes through time. The trail unfolds in layers of nature and history—each turn offering a new perspective on the coast’s rugged beauty and its surprising abundance of wildlife. We will keep an eye out for coyotes on the bluffs, sea lions lounging on distant rocks, dolphins playing offshore, or whales passing by on their migration.
The tour culminates with a stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge—the perfect place to capture a photo with the most photographed bridge in the world. Then, we make our way back to our meeting spot… the “end of the line,” as Hunter S. Thompson once wrote about this magical stretch of San Francisco’s wild coast.
This unforgettable experience captures the same spirit of adventure, discovery, and connection to nature that defines Wilmington Outdoor Adventures—now shared from coast to coast.
This interpretive tour is a little more than walking and a little less than hiking. Expect uneven terrain and short, steep climbs through insanely epic landscapes. Comfortable and sturdy shoes are a must!
This tour is great for those with no mobility issues and who have an active lifestyle. Strollers, bikes, crutches, etc. will not work. Pets are welcome!
